Nothing more was said about the identity of the other two titles so we will forever be left to wonder what they were. The free-to-play battle royale Ghost Recon Frontline and the virtual reality Splinter Cell spin-off are two of the four titles entering Ubisoft's cancelled games list after years of development. The free-to-play battle royale Ghost Recon Frontline title that was being made at Ubisoft Bucharest was also scrapped after a previous delay and significant fan backlash. As for Splinter Cell VR, very little had been said about the game aside from that it would be launching exclusively on Oculus VR, which narrowed down its marketing potential. Ubisofts Red Storm studio and Meta had been jointly developing Splinter Cell VR before the game was canceled due to the 'uncertain economic environment'. Rumors then spread earlier this year that the game was getting a reboot, but it seems like that wasn’t good enough for Ubisoft to feel like the game had a future.
A closed beta was eventually held on Janu. The reveal trailer was heavily criticized and a closed test was postponed, ultimately never going ahead. Ubisoft originally planned to hold a Ghost Recon Frontline closed beta test in October 2021, but it made the decision to postpone the test.

After previously delaying the Ghost Recon Frontline closed beta test for unspecified reasons, Ubisoft has now officially canceled the game altogether. It appears that Ubisoft isnt done releasing free-to-play shooters just yet. Ghost Recon Frontline was a free-to-play, first-person PvP shooter that was to offer a new take on the battle royale franchise. Ubisofts new Ghost Recon Frontline is a 100-player free-to-play shooter with a tactical twist. In other words, none of the four games, of which Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline were the only two specifically named, were expected to perform well so they’ve now been canceled.
